Sept 23, 1944 Dear Mother, Just after I sealed your letter, Joyce brought in box number 10, which was very nice. I love those Nabisco-like things and so do the girls. The others didn't last long. The apricots are gone already. I gave jay the green bookmark, for which she thanks you. I kept the lavender one. Ditto. It's nice to have my slippers again. I'm taking them with me to Scotland tomorrow! Hooray for the hose! They are lovely, and how I can use them. I liked the milk chocolate, which is quite different from the usual kinds. I'm taking Maureen some things besides my issued ration stamps. I'm taking some green tea, two packages of hot chocolate, a few Hershey bars, a can of corned beef (which I hate to part with incidentally), one of my big bars of soap, some cold cream, a box of dusting powder and a lipstick. Last night I got a package from Mary with six rolls of film. I'm taking some of it with me and hope to get some good pictures. I have two rolls still being developed. I took this morning off and had my hair set. I had planned on going to a dance this evening, but felt tired and decided to
