a better supply of it now than earlier in the war. Every morning I had a nice breakfast tray in bed and the heater turned on. A neighbor gave them two eggs for me and I got one of them soft boiled and the other fried. We usually took the bus, about 5 min. ride into Durnoon for a little shopping in the late morning. Then we had lunch before the fire about 1, Maureen cooked and Mrs. Croly and I did the dishes. Then Mrs. C. would say "you'll want a cup of tea in your hand before you start out," so we'd have a cup of tea and go somewhere nice. Wednesday we went over to Gourock to get my ticket back, Thursday we took a bus to Ardentinny a route around the Holy Loch (a submarine base) and halfway up Lock Long. Friday we took the bus up Glen Lain and hiked up a lovely road up Glen Kim, where we picked the heather. It's all very wet, with lots of mosses and even the mountains aren't safe off the trails because of peat bogs and pot holes. They have to drain them before reforesting. Saturday we went to Ben Mohr and walked in the gardens. The fuschias grew as tall as honeysuckle and were beautiful, all in bloom now.
