direct. It seems queer, as they come on here about nine at night. By the way, Eric (Wilson) & Betty will be interested to know that Eddie Anderson just beams when Iowa loses a game. Says it makes his contract all the better. How is that for loyalty? I can send Maureen many of my things I get here, like towels, matches and candy. Anything in the meat line or sardine, or canned or dried things I could share with her. I'm thinking of getting her a pair of heavy pajamas when I go in to London next week. I'll mail those darned etchings then too. Just the usual assortment of things, marshmellows, dried fruit, a bar or so, etc., will do nicely, as no special packages will be necessary for her. The sacks, the big ones, are our musette bags, filled with toilet articles, mess kits and supplies for several days. Then there was the gas mask and belt with canteen and first aid kit. A mite heavy, all in all. And those helmets! If you dropped anything you couldn't pick it up because you couldn't get your head back up again. I'm talking of the picture, of course.
