Saving...
Oct. 31, 1944 Dear Mother, Just a line or so as I'm very sleepy and it is after one o'clock. We had a very nice Halloween party for the patients tonight. Tomorrow, or rather today, Jay and I are going to London. We'll be back Saturday about noon. If I write you from there, don't pay any attention to the change in APO. Letters forty two and forty three came a day or so ago. I'm glad you talked to Earl Hall. It's not a window in Morty's trouser leg. It's a tin can on a stake where cigarette butts, etc are put. They are called G.I. cans. Yes, the hospital is quite impressive. It is grass in the center - prairie grass in the process of being [trimmed?] down. A big box of Jalva for Jay, please. Of the Iowa Citians meeting in London, in the clipping you sent, I know Claire Hernent and Mary Keating well. I pass Iowans on to them. They are both very nice. No, I don't intend to give away the silver spoon-holder. I want it for roses. Be sure to look carefully at the slips on the etchings, as I've parcelled them out that way, or by writing on the backs lightly. Love, Helen
