P.S. I mailed the etchings at last. November 4, 1944 Dear Mother, We got back this noon, but no letter from you. My, but they are irregular just now. Package thirteen came tonight and was lots of fun. I was delighted with the tongue, as we hadn't a thing in that line. Also the crackers. We had been wishing someone would send us some as Jay had cheese and sardines and the bread makes me break out. We could use soda crackers or melba toast anytime, as a matter of fact. The bars are already all gone, due to an influx of company. By the way I just had another [??sweet] bath and like it very much in this water. Some more would be appreciated. I found a letter from Mary Bess Doty when I got back. It was written early in September and took its time in Washington, I think. She is with her third hospital and is now in New Guinea, I should judge. She's engaged to a Major she met on the way over and he contributes to the Australian part to "Yank." We had a swell time in London. We stayed with some lovely people named Janner. Jay's brother-in-law, who is a Major
