Saving...
Thursday we got up late, ate at a canteen Jay's cousin runs, then went to the waxworks. We had a late lunch on the way from there (on Baker street) and shopped at the PX. I got another grey hospital dress, to my great delight, a pair of black shoes, black gloves, hose, and a pair of pajamas I want to send Maureen for Christmas unless some of mine will do. We went home and phoned some friends and reserved some play tickets. Then we went to the officers mess for dinner, took a cab with three goony officers and went to see the play "Tomorrow the World." It was excellent. Then we met a couple of men we knew and had some drinks around here and there and went home. It was bright moonlight and the city in that light was uncanny. It's still blacked out, you know. Friday we had lunch with Mrs. Janner, shopped for groceries in Soho, went all over St. Pauls from top -- and I do mean top -- to bottom. Then we ate at a Greek restaurant and went to see "Three's a Family." It was just fair. Then home for a visit and tea by the fire. This morning, back here. Love, Helen
