Saving...
Jay's father sends her is not good when it gets here. I'm sorry to hear Fran's been ill and very sorry to hear of Walter Johnson's [note between lines: Young Coralville soldier - the Legion Post there is named for him] death. Where are Dorothy and Jen now? Poor fellow, he never had much of a chance, did he? Interruptions: Jay and Joyce back from movie and Gen in to show me some books she bought. The pigeons sound cosy. Where did they come from? We don't have to feed the cats. They get fed in the mess kitchens, etc. Occasionally one turns up at my door for some milk, made by adding water to powdered milk. No, I've plenty of dye for the sweater. I've a pretty bouquet of chrysanthemums on the table. I "lifted" them when they were taking them around the wards. Things are getting too sociable in the room now -- I'll have to stop. Love, Helen The picture are the "main" street [note above line: High Street, Oxford] of our town and another taken the opposite way showing a bridge and a lovely tower. Magdalen College
