November 13, 1944 Dear Mother, Two letters, box thirteen and Mary's yarn one, and a delightful week-end to visit about. First, the letters: Forty-eight came and then a day or so later, poor old forty-four. I'm delighted with the Strother news. How nice June wasn't far from the hospital and that she got it over so soon. Tell her I said it proves practice makes perfect. I'm going to try to find something cute to send - next time I go to London if not before. (Birth of 2nd daughter, Kay) I really don't think I'd divide the salad set. Better give it to Grace, as you'd planned. I'm still trying to find something suitable for Min and may later. It's hard. Yes, the arrangement for Mary's wedgewood does sound all right. It's true it would have to be made much stronger to take the knocks a ring gets. I hope Herb (Smith) gets here. I'd like to see him. The boxes were delightful - even the packing in yours. We've enjoyed the crackers and cheese and raisins several nights now. We're looking forward to baking the nice white cake. The tongue spread was gobbled up the evening we opened the package. Mary's box was fun too. I took the lovely yarn with me to Whitehall Sat. and now
