have about six inches done. I'm using a combination of two patterns in the book. I love the red. The nice soap was ever-so-welcome too. I told you about Robertas package of soap, stockings and pop-corn, didn't I? Nice friends, I think. Now for the weekend. Polly, Jay and I expected to take a bus, as Jay & I did before, but the queue was so long we couldn't make it. We were just sick, as we were all packed, the guests were waiting dinner for us, and they have no phone so we could let them know. Also it was drizzling. I suggested we try a taxi and sure enough at the station we found one who'd take us and at not a bad price either. So we rode in state to the very door. They were still waiting, disappointed because Bobby had met the bus & we weren't on it, but somehow expecting us to be resourceful. Bobby, Mrs. Brodtman's son from London (about 25), Freddie (her nephew, about 35), and several neighbors we knew before were there. Mrs. Busby, Mrs. Jordan and Pam, Mrs. Abrams and her son and daughter-in-law. All in all, we were thirteen. We had a drink by the fire and then a swell dinner of soup, chicken, roast lamb, potatoes, tomatoes, Brussel Sprouts, gravy, stewed fruit with custard & cider. Then
