Saving...
January 21, 1945 Dear Mother, The day I got back from London, Thursday, I found that Nellie had left on her month's leave at home. She had had only three hours' notice as she expected to go in March. She'll be gone at least two months, if she is well enough to be allowed to come back. So that leaves your pride and joy in charge of a seven thousand volune library, & about twenth additional volunteers in addition to the previous "rat-race", as Lin calls it. There are only four of us now, so if you don't get as long or as frequent letters it will be because it is a physical impossibility. I decided to do some revising and clearing out in the library, as long as it was my baby, so the last two days have hardly been fair samples. I got your crossed out sixty ninth letter when I got back, also lovely ones from Gretchen and June. I wouldn't worry about the package, as it will undoubtedly come through. The one I'm worrying about is number seventeen, gone for good I fear. To answer your questions: Yes, I wear my uniform always. I haven't been out of uniform except for slacks since a year ago November. I got a honey of an outfit in London. It is the battledress issued to R.C. girls going to the continent or to clubmobile girls. It cost me only f4. It's made like a ski suit, with windbreaker jacket that buttons on snug in back & a cute hat. I adore it. It will be swell for bicycling.
