Saving...
snowdrops and crocus are blooming like everything and today was a perfect spring day. About the income tax. The Red Cross didn't send any withholding receipt. They don't withhold anything from the day a person leaves the continental U.S. That is why I had only sixty four dollars withheld. That was twelve eighty each two week salary from Jan 1st to March 15th. The tax is figured correctly according to the table and all that should need to be done is pay it. If there is any difficulty about it, just forget it. It doesn't have to be paid till I get back, but I'd rather keep up to date while I have the figures handy. The form I filled out and sent you was the one the R.C. sent us. My salary was $175. a month if they want to figure it out for themselves. I cut the name of the place out myself -- not the censor. I'm an old hand at it now, you see. Helen Crum was in my Basic Rec. class in Washington and went up to Mass. to a hospital very near mine for her two weeks. She was my roommate in Washington till she left, soon after and was the one with the fussy mother. I'm afraid the dear lady would be hard put to it to keep up with her chick now, as she seems to turn up everywhere. Gen Kuzia wrote of seeing her in Paris. Yes, I had a leaflet about the daisy knitter. Is it in one of my drawers? I had it in Milwaukee.
