Saving...
Red has a friend, a blue eyed, black haired Irishman named McDonough, who heard I'd like a piece of a parachute for a scarf and brought me a big square, all snowy nylon. It's beautiful, and all the girls are green with envy. Last night I played Chinese checkers all evening with five of the men and beat them till they ganged up on me. Jay is out visiting a family she met Friday at services. Polly and I pooled her bath oil and my Bathasweet, added Yardley's lavender soap and a couple of Shocking bath sponges and had a delightful wallow in the tub. We reek, and so does the whole corridor. She's rooming now with Shirlea, our new (several weeks old) secretary, who is over at the office tonight typing reports. Lin has the Wac night party at the Rec. Hall, one of the Red Cross patients took the men to the play downtown and Joyce is in the hospital. She hadn't been very well, lots of stomach upsets, and the girls dragged her off today and got her admitted. Now she'll have to rest a while. Helen Mitchell an English friend of Nellies from Bath is here for several days visiting us and sketching the patients. She is very good. Johnny is on nights and has about two weeks more to go. That takes care of us Love, Helen P.S. We have a new staff aide, Helen Boillot
