Saving...
Helen and her apartment mate, Brucie & Johnnie & I walked back to the club and had big plates of ice cream. Then we were sleepy so Johnnie & I went across the street where we were staying and went to bed. Rather noisy, but we got our sleep anyway. We slept till 9:30, had hot waffles at the club and then went to the officers PX, where I got a new coat, hat, hose, hospital dress and white slip. We took those back to the club and tucked them away. Then we ate at the officers mess because it was too late to book a table at Claridges or the Ritz, etc. Then we "fun" shopped. I felt flush, so got several nice things. I've a silver ash tray or so I'll sent home for the gals, a couple of compacts of leather. I got myself a lovely pigskin cylinder with 4 bottles, silver topped, for carrying liquids when traveling. You know how long I've wanted it. We handled ivory boxes at $150, amber necklaces and silver and glass. I saw a nice tea set I may get if it is still there when I've accumulated money again. It was the first I've really liked well enough to buy. It's about [pound symbol] 75, which I ought to have in six weeks or so. Time for bed. If it's nice tomorrow I'm going for a picnic. Love, Helen
