P.S. You might write me one letter American Red Cross APO - 887 % PM N.Y., N.Y. just in case. April 8, 1945 Dear Mother, Just a note as I'm tired from a nice bicycle ride with Claire Hervert and from packing. I think I'm about to be on my way, alone, for other parts. Maybe I'll be able to get you another water pitcher for the tea set. Or see Freddie. At any rate, I'll hope the gap in mail isn't too great, particularly as you said in the last letter I've had that you have a cold, a cough and don't seem to be using good sense in what you are doing. If that's the last letter I get for a month or so, you can imagine my frame of mind. I got package thirty nine, with the Sears catalog (good for a whole evenings reading) the film, soup and pralines which will go with me. I'm afraid I'll have to relinquish the catalog to Nellie, who has eager eyes on it. If you haven't already sent the lunch cloths, don't, as I won't be able to give them out probably. I think good will be probably the most welcome item in packages for awhile. I don't know for sure where I am going, or even if. At any rate, I'll keep my eyes open and take it all in. Love, Helen
