No. 1 on our gun team so consequently did the firing. I fired about eight hundred rounds in five minutes. That's very slow firing but we "ceased fire" every now and then so the guns would not get too hot. The Lewis gun has fired eight hundred shots per minute. Do you believe that. I wish you could see a machine gun work. You known that when a live round explodes in the chamber of a gun, a certain amount of gas is formed which forces the bullet out of the barrel.
