Saving...
his transportation would be payed, because I realize that he does not have any money left after he has payed out on his liberty bond and insurance besides a few incidentals. So the thought came to me that it would be a fine thing for you Erna, Orville, and Fred a little bit, and myself if we could all chip in and furnish the amount that would bring our soldier brother home. We could not spend that little amount in a better way, and that would insure us any more happiness. I hope we can arrange it so that it will be a grand surprise for Mamma and Papa, then if anything does happen that Tom cannot come, they will not be so disappointed. The fore both ways for the four of us will be about eight dollars a piece. Now if you wish you can send it to me or what you can and I will forward it to Tom so he will have it when he gets the telegram. Hope you are all getting along the best, and that your crop prospects are the best the year. How is Lucile and the baby getting along. We would like to see them. Wish you could all drive down and make us a good visit. We will write a longer letter soon. Erna is feeling fine. Well let us hear from you often. With love to all, Lee and Erna.
