hiking. This hiking isn't what its cracked up to be - especially with full packs. We walk about three miles per hour including rests. We rest fifteen minutes the first hour and ten minutes every hour after that. Get back in camp at 11:30. "Soupy" is at 12 M and if it isn't enough we jaw the mess- sergeant which occurs every meal - no matter what the eats are. Drill again from 1-5 in the afternoon. The afternoons work consists of formation drill and school of the soldier and squad. I'd rather hike for although its harder work, we have had the other so many times in the last fourteen months that its old to us. But we have about forty new men who have only had a little over a month's
