Saving...
getting a car. They have a jitney law to the effect that cars cannot haul soldiers out of camp without a special licence and we couldn't find a licensed car. Finally we found a driver who consented to haul us to camp if we would walk three or four blocks out of the main part of town so the cops would see us. Well, we lost no time in doing that and reached camp about midnight. None of us had passes but as luck would have it the guard didn't stop us. We didn't come in by the main road so that accounts for it probably. If we stay out after taps (ten oclock) we are supposed to have passes but we couldn't be bothered about applying for them.
