Saving...
April 12, 1945 Dear Mother, Well, I was right and isn't it exciting? I am so pleased because it is quite a privilege and the girls are trying everything to get to go. I got another letter from you, a nice long one, so all is well. It was number thirty seven. I came in to London this morning and everything went so smoothly, due to my having everything I should that I was all cleared and free in about an hour. I bumped into Helen C. at headquarters and will see her tomorrow. She expects to go soon. Then I came to the R.C. club where I am now, jumped into my fluffy bed and slept all afternoon. My farewell bicycle rides and picnics plus my packing had left me little time for sleep. Nellie and I took a picnic on the edge of Otmoor, near Beckley last night and then later Polly brought a cake in and we had coffee & cake, about eight of us. I'm sorry to leave the girls, but this will give me a chance to make a whole new set of friends. Tonight I went to the officers' mess and ran into Meg & Sandy, two nurses from my block and had dinner with them. Then I went over to another club and encountered a Rec. worker who was at Kilmer with us. I think I'll have several days here, and will go to a show or so call on the Janners, go to something with Bobby Brodtman if I'm here Monday when he gets back from Whitehall,
