Saving...
April 18, 1945 Dear Mother, We had a nice trip and I'm enjoying Paris as much as ever. It is warm and drowsy. This afternoon after a nap we strolled along the Champs Elysies and goggled at the new hats, great huge things like muffs or pots. As usual, some looked very smart in them. The shoes are mostly wedgies with huge thick soles of wood. The chestnut trees are in bloom, and the lilacs and it is nice. We are staying in a very good hotel. We are to go to headquarters tomorrow for a meeting and then I hope we'll have a few days before we go on our respective assignments. I'm going to try to look Herb Smith up tomorrow. I expect Johnnie soon and hope she gets here before I go. It's nice to see luxury goods for sale again, even though they are high. I may do a little shopping tomorrow, or I may go to Versailles. Would you tell Prof. Bush it's quite the same as ever except that the restaurant prices are out of sight. It would be lovely if you'd drop a note to Mrs. Brodtman, Whitehall, Minster Lovell, Oxon. and thank her for being so nice to me. She always sends you her regards. Love, Helen
