Saving...
April 26, 1945 Dear Mother, Just a note tonight, as I'm still sleepy after my trip. I got here today, having made friends with a physiotherapist and a dietician from here on the train. We arrived in style by Military Police Jeep, all other means having failed for the last few miles. It is a very nice place, especially for this part of the world. The building is permanent and there is heat. We had hot showers tonight, but get those only twice a week. I am rooming with two other Red Cross girls, which wouldn't be my choice, but they are nice and we will have fun. My work will be largely crafts and our patients are almost all combat fatigue cases, so there will be little ward work. All in all, I expect to be working at a much slower pace than before. That is all to the good. Already my French has proved very handy and I am in much demand to talk to the janitor, the maid, etc. More in a day or so. Love, Helen
