there was quite a race. When we got to Paris I went to the billeting office and was assigned to the Patio club in rue St. Honore just off Place Vendome. It was a WAC club, as the Normandy, nurses' club was full. Then I ate, & went to Army headquarters to make a sleeper reservation coming back. Then I went to the club, had a hot bath in a tub, phoned Herb and made a date for Sunday afternoon. Then I slept till dinner and went to bed again early after eating. Saturday I got up about ten and went to headquarters to look up my footlocker, get my check and ask some questions. I got through by noon, ate and then took the Metro to 5, Rue Leopold Robert. I asked the concierge if Mme. Houis still lived there. She beamed at me and said she did, so I went up and rang the bell. Out came Mme., the same but with white hair. She squealed and hugged mer and gave me a big smack on each cheek. Thank goodness my French had improved because
