Saving...
restaurant dinner. The ambulance came for us and that was the end of the trip. I found a nice bunch of letters waiting for me. Maureen was so pleased with the things I sent her from England when I was packing. She was also delighted with the letter you wrote her. I also had a letter from Jay, telling of her May Day visit to Oxford. How I hated to miss it! Today I had a letter from Joyce. She said Johnny had left for Paris. I'm waiting to hear from her. If she's anywhere near I'll meet her. I've about decided to take assignments here in Europe rather than one in the CBI, [note between lines: China-Burma-India] for the present at least. Then we can see. Answers to questions: Bobby is not married. He has an office in London and goes to Whitehall weekends. They are very wealthy. Did I tell you they refused $120,000 for Whitehall recently? They have a town house in London out in Hampstead. We will be welcome there or at Whitehall if we come over again. No, I won't find it tame. I'm resourceful and although I may startle you at times, I'll make out. By all means, do send hose, food or anything else you may feel like sending.
