Ciney, Belgium May 31, 1945 Dear Mother, Almost a week since I sat in the craft shop at the chateau before and wrote you that whopper of a letter. I haven't had a letter from you since, but two nice packages arrived. They were forty-four and, I think, forty one or two. Anyway, they had rusk, sardines, a pretty lunch cloth I shall send to England, two delicious rolls of candy (already eaten) hard candy, very nice hand cream, complexion veil and no doubt many other nice things I'll remember as soon as I seal the letter. Thank you, my dear. I got also a huge tin can of Hazel [Barnes?] candy from Aunt Bertha. It must have been three to five pounds. We ate it and yours in three days. My three roommates and my other friends groan and look at me reproachfully. One night we all tossed, moaned and snored frightfully. Johnnie is in Germany and I will meet her in Luxembourg for three
