Criney, Belgium June 14, 1945 Dear Mother, I just got your letters 58 & 59 today, so will sandwich in a brief letter between visiting with the men in the shop. The man across the table is making a hooked rug for his home in California. It is still cold, so I haven't done the swimming out in the pool here as I hope to. It's a very nice place, and just at the side of the chateau. What a miserable hail storm to have just at the wrong time for the fruit! I guess that must have taken care of the apricots. I guess I wrote you Friday. Saturday night I went to the dance at the club with Lt. Skinner, an infantry officer who is a very good dancer. You know, I'm afraid that without intending to in the least I have embarked upon jitterbugging. At least it seems to be a mild form of it.
