off with them at the Martinez. We drifted around a bit and I ended up with a Major Tuthill of the 11th Armored Division a good dancer but a bit of a character. When the Martinez closed we went to the Miramar & then one here to the Provençal when that closed at one we went to a French place called Maxims. At 2 the terrace dancing stopped and we went in to a little stuffy night club with too small dance floor. At 3:30 I got tired of it & he brought me home. He wanted a date for lunch today but I wasn't interested as all he wants to do is drink. This morning Kathleen left by plan to Paris via Wiesbaden & I thought I was a very lonely person. I went in to Cannes to see about a tour. On the way back in the truck I met a lovely French girl who is a salesgirl for Worths, the big dressmaker in Paris & is on a month holiday here. She wants me to meet her family & says to let her know if I want to borrow any clothes. Imagine me in a Worth creation! I ate a late lunch & was sitting out on the wall with my swimming suit in my kerchief waiting for the bus to Eden Rock when I met an infantry colonel named Bruce Booth, who suggested I go down to Cannes with him & have a coke at the R.C. club.
