Juan-les-Pins July 23, 1945 Paris - Le Sacré Coeur Dear Mother, I guess I'd better write more often so I can do more than give the bare sketch. It's such a unique atmosphere that it deserves better than that. Since I haven't any letters from you to answer, and probably won't have for weeks, you will have to put up with a monologue. As we planned, I met Col. Booth out at Eden Rock yesterday morning about 11. We swam, lay on the raft and on the cliffs till about 12:30. Then we took the truck on into Cannes and went to this hotel, the Carleton, for lunch. It is a beautiful place, all gold and crystal chandeliers. The lunch was good too. We fooled around visiting till about 3, then went to the Red Cross club where we got a coca cola and he played the piano for me. He
