and charged off dancing. They weren't either of them too good dancers. One is from Oklahoma and looks like an Indian, Lt. Romaine & the other is tall, bond & lazy looking, Lt. Leseur. After the dance ended at 1 we came in and there was some swell singing in the lobby, a bunch of new men who will rapidly become characters, I am sure. There are about twelve of them; one is an excellent singer and an imposing looking man. His name is Bob, but I don't yet know the rest. Another is a pianist and was the one who wrote the good infantry song. We all bellowed, with occasional solos from Bob, till about 2. Then I came up, took a long soaking bath while I finished a book. Now I'm in my mosquito netting and it is 3 o'clock & I'm ready for sleep. All the tight knots have gone days ago, and life is a swell adventure. It is for everyone down here; why on earth can't we make it the same at home? Tomorrow morning I'm going to take a dip at Eden Rock, more to look over the field than otherwise. At three I'm going on a swimming picnic with a bunch of unknown officers. I hope something good develops for the evening. Wed. afternoon I'm going on a Monte Carlo tour for the same reason -- variety. I'm having dinner with Lts Leseur & Romaine at the Miramar Wed. after the tour. Love, Helen
