Saving...
He was an engineer named Chuck Salter & was up from staging in Marseilles after being in Germany. Incidentally, staging in Marseilles means the Pacific. He wanted me to wear a civilian dress, so I wore a jersey print I got in Washington & my nylon hose & did he love it! He was an excellent dancer and said in the best Georgia style "Honey, your hair tickles my nose, you feel good in my arms and you go where I go. Whoopee!" We took a stroll through the pines on the beach when the music stopped at 1:30. The moon was round and golden and he about missed the three o'clock truck back to Cannes. Wed. I slept late & then went on a bus tour on the Grand Corniche drive (the one where the bus stopped & I took the picture). It was lovely; we looked down on Monte Carlo & had a lunch at La Turbie. I got back too late to keep my date with the 2 lieutenants for dinner at the Miramar. I saw a friend of theirs & sent my apologies. I was tired & had started being sick so I bathed & went to bed early, missing a dance for the first time since I got here. I forgot to say that Tuesday night at the dance I bumped into Helen Crum, who is working in Nice at the big G.I. club.
