Namur, Belgium July 30, 1945 Dear Mother, Did I ever say that I love the air corps, one and all? Well, I do; they are the grandest bunch of all. You probably wonder what I'm doing in Namur at supper time when I was on the Riviera at two thirty this afternoon, especially if you recall the twenty four hour train trip I had going down. Also, how it fits into a return trip to Paris. When I think how I used to plan my trips from Milwaukee to Iowa City, worry and stew over my reservations and whether or not my baggage would make connections, I want to howl. Here's what I did today. I don't have orders for air travel, but I hated the train so that I took the truck out to the Nice airport about noon. The Paris plane was full, but who should show up in the nick of time but the gang from the 344th Bomber Group, our old playmates including Capt. Johnny Wade. They were coming up to Florennes and some of them to 9th Air Force headquarters here in Namur, and as usual, were more than cordial.
