Now I must tell you about my last two days in Juan-les-Pins. Saturday I went for a tour along the shore in the afternoon. In the evening I had a date with Capt. Trainer (the one up from Italy) & we went down to Cannes to dance & later came back near the Provencal to the Ambassadeur. While there we met some old friends of his back when he was in the 69th Division. They invited us to dinner with the general of the division, Gen. [Reinhart?] Sunday night. So Sunday morning I swam at Eden Roc, lay in the sun, ate out there & then went home & got dressed. Jim picked me up in his jeep about 5 and we went out just a little way past Eden Roc to the house where the generals stay when there. It is a gorgeous villa, with its own pine slope and rocky swimming beach. The ceilings are high, the walls thick and the whole thing in marvellous taste. There are 14 servants. There were about twenty of us, three R.C. girls one of whom I knew coming over from England. We had drinks on the flagstone patio which had a cream colored rug, bamboo modernistic
