Camp Twenty Grand Rouen, France Aug. 13, 1945 Dear Mother, We've had a nice day. We went to Le Havre swimming, leaving about 10 this morning & getting back about 5:00. There were twenty of us, seventeen nurses & three RC. The beach isn't in very good condition, all twisted iron, wire, big blocks of concrete tossed up, and bulldozers were charging around leveling off the beach & tearing down pill boxes. There wasn't any place to dress so we accepted the invitation of the G.I. construction gang & used their machine shed tent for the purpose. They were so nice & put up a flap over the door & posted a guard. Something may happen to us this next weekend, rumour has it. I'll wait & answer your Belgium questions in person, or in a later letter. OK? Don't dare to give away any of the things that aren't labeled to give away, will you? They are for us, and for some particular reason. The two handkerchiefs in the box are marked Fran & Helen, I think. The two perfumes, use as you want. Love, Helen
