Saving...
Deauville, France August 16, 1945 Dear Mother, I came here Tuesday with a bunch of the girls on a 24 hr. pass which has pleasantly stretched into a 72 hr. pass. It is gorgeous here, a lovely beach with big breakers to jump and tumble around in, soft sand to sunbathe on and a social life that has prospects. We are living in a huge resort hotel named the Normandy, where officers are billeted also. The first night we were here we went to a M.P. dance at the casino. Last night we went to a show and tonight there is an officers dance which should be good, as many more are coming in. Tomorrow I guess we go back to Twenty Grand for a few days. Our officers were called back last night to sail today. Latest rumors are that the nurses will go to England the 21st to go home on one of the Queens. As for us, we don't know whether we will be left with them, or called in to Paris to be reassigned or sent home by ourselves. At any rate, the Pacific victory has finished the plans
