Camp Twenty Grand Rouen, France August 18, 1945 Dear Mother, I'm CQ tonight, so I'll take advantage of the table & electric light to scribble a note. I got back from Deauville about four this afternoon, after a very enjoyable five days. As I felt in my bones, the social life turned out well the last two days. Thursday afternoon I went to the beach with several of the nurses and we bounced around in the big waves and sunned on the beach. That evening as Kay, a nurse named Marie & I were having a drink before dinner we met a captain who seemed quite interesting. I didn't enter into the discussion much, as I was sleepy. Later we went over to the officers club at the casino & encountered him in the bar. He got a table & a bottle of champagne & the four of us sat there. It developed that he
