Hunter's Quay Scotland Aug. 30, 1945 Dear Mother, I had a few days, so I skipped up here for a last visit with Maureen and her mother. I'm enjoying it ever so much. As I write, Maureen is poking away at the fire and her mother has gone off for a bus ride with a friend. I think I wrote you Saturday afternoon. Well I went to a dance given by one of the battalions of the 134th infantry of the 35th division; (also staging to go home) down in Tidworth. I had a very good time meeting the CO. of the battalion; a Col. McDannel almost at once and spending the entire evening with him. I met all the other officers & it was very gay. It would take more work re-domesticating him than I'd ever want to put in (after their exploits in conquered countries), but he was good fun for an evening and I'll probably see him again when I get back or on the boat. Sunday I rested and took a walk
