Tidworth, Wiltshire Sept 5, 1945 Dear Mother, Well, we are restricted to the post from tonight till we sail on the Aquitania, presumably Saturday, so maybe we'll be getting home in spite of everything. Except for the fact that you have presumably been expecting me, I've really not minded the delay. It isn't every day that a person gets paid for traveling in Europe free, is it? I could have stayed three or four days longer with Maureen if I'd dared but we were told to be back the 1st and so I came. She took me over to Gourock on the boat about 3 Friday afternoon and I got in to Glasgow about supper time. I had a drink and dinner at a nice hotel and then got in my berth & went to sleep. Saturday night I went to another of the 6922 battalion, 134th infantry
