one knows a thing of what the life of a doughboy has to go thro. and I dont either for that matter. it was the boys who were at chateau Thirrey. Arragone and metz who know what seal soldiering is . If the war had lasted a few weeks longer I have my doubts if I would be seated here writing for the runners dont last long as a rule. Our Lieut. who has change of the runner detachment says that sixty percent of the Decorations for bravery were given to runners. flares, rockets, flags. Lamps telephones and ect. are all right in their place but when all these fail than it is the wearer of the red Arm band that takes the message thro.
