December 29, 1945 Dear Mother, I'll start this while I'm waiting for Betty to come. Then we are going to dinner at Hogates (steamed clams, remember?) Last night she took me to a fried chicken place & then we went to see the movie "San Antonio," in technicolor. Pretty, but why don't they get an alternative plot? I got all my appointments out of the way yesterday. They want me to take the 5 shots I need while at Langley field, & I can't get my uniforms till I get back to clear, either. I expect I'll be there till the 15th of Jan, at least, so why not write there till about then & then change to Am. Red Cross, 930 H Street, NW Washington. They hope to get us "sailed" by the end of Jan. Betty came just then & we went to Hogates & had a swell dinner (no steamed clams, but lobster). Then we went to see Fred Astaire in
