Happy New Year!
Langley Field, Va.
December 31, 1945
Dear Mother,
I got here OK this afternoon & have been fed & am sitting at one of the two service clubs. There is a party at the other one, so there aren't many customers just now. Just then five or six fellows came in & I played ping-pong, double solitaire, cassino, & learned to shoot billiards the rest of the evening. I came on home at 11, when the club closed instead of going on over to Club 4, which was having a party till 12:30. It had been quite a day & I needed a hot bath & a chance to get things in order. It's about time for the girls to come in & I'll stop when I hear them. This is a large permanent post, with nice houses & streets, the R.C. house has lots of parlors, & sleeps eleven. It will be full by the time we have all gathered
