January 12, 1945 [1946] Dear Mother, Betty just went home a little while ago and I have had a hot bath since. She brought me three pairs of nylons she picked up while clerking today. She's going to buy some more for me when she sees them. I've seen her every day. Sometimes we've had dinner and then gone to a show, but tonight we went out & had hamburgers & then came back to the room & visited a while. After she got home she phoned that your package has come. She's coming in tomorrow (Sunday) & we are going to repack so I can send all my heavy things home. Yesterday I got a bigger suitcase -- one that will hold more nearly the 65 lbs. I'm allowed by air -- and very much like the one we got at C.R. It is a Hartman, has a tray & is navy blue with white rawhide trim. I also got one of those cute little travel cases that are almost square & have the handle on top. I'll pack the locker & maybe a duffle bag to send by ship & send home to you, express called, I fear, the suitcase & bed roll. I'll pay it here if I can but until I
