Saving...
get a check or so I'm short of cash. I wish there were some way I could get out about a hundred dollars of my money now, because there are several things I want to get here where they are reasonable. e.g. a slack suit, an attractive swimming suit, play shoes, another summer formal. Is there any way I can get it without interfering with your finances? I was having lunch at the [AEWW?] club here this noon when Shirley Briggs [note in margin: from Iowa City] was seated across from me. We had a nice visit & I'm going to dinner at her apartment the end of the week when she gets back from inspecting some oyster beds. She's with the government fishery or wild life part of the Dept. of Interior. I've visited with Don & am to see them early this week. I haven't called Julia yet, but will Monday, probably. My yellow fever shot didn't even get sore. Phyllis Levine, the girl who came from Langley field with me to go to Panama, can't go because of blood pressure & a poor electro-cardiograph. She's been in only seven months & is very much disappointed. Betty & I took her to dinner last night to cheer her up. Has the watch come? I insured it. Love, Helen
