Saving...
hot weather. And the suitcase wasnt big enough. I have to live out of it while I make my first impression, for several months, perhaps. They tell me that people working most of the year in Panama Canal Zone pay no income tax ever. Wouldn't that be nice for '46? And on the 1945 one it should be less than on 1944 because I didn't work 3 months. I had a nice letter from Gretchen yesterday. Oh, yes, something else important. You are to send the insurance policies the R.C. sent you back to have them brought up to date. Send them to Insurance Section, American Red Cross, Headquarters, 18th & D., Washington, D.C. I'll write a social letter & answer questions next time. Sorry there's so much red tape for you. I knew I shouldn't work; it's turning out like the lawn mowing! [note at bottom: I mowed the lawn all summer & ended up owing the "budget box"] Love, Helen
