Saving...
& kept repaired by them, even our [cars?]. They spray us once a month with DDT & I haven't seen a bug. We have a maid named Julia, black & spindly, who works for us, washes, makes our beds, washes dishes & cleans. She works every day but Sunday. We voucher her wages, 75 a month from each of us. This is the "dry" season. It is very pleasant as to temperature, like summer at home & there is a swell cool breeze all the time. I use a blanket at night. The club is an old gym, newly decorated & very large. It is run by a special service officer & by me. I plan the program mostly & he tends to the equipment, etc. There are 2 enlisted men paid to work there when it is open, so we can come & go as we wish without having to open or close or cover it. We have a wonderful PX (army) & commissary (Canal Zone)
