Saving...
house wrens every morning. This must be their winter home. I've seen humming birds, too. The other birds, bright colored ones, are foreign to me. Your letters are coming beautifully. I got the big one, number 1, 2 & 4. The last one came in only 3 days. Wish I could have seen the Iowa-Minn game. My arm is OK now. My C.R. pants didn't shrink much. No, Ted [note in margin: Kielenstyn, cook at 91st in England. Married English girl & lives in Iowa City.] said his wife was to come to the states in April or May & would have had a baby by then. Yes, the allottment paper was for [???ing] as I was in the country. Now you should get 57.50 every 2 weeks. Don't forget to use the 7.50 yourself. I mailed you a box a day or so ago. It has some things for gifts, Christmas if you want, but better use your things now. I also sent Betty Haas a box. Both had the return of Capt. Peters, but the things are from me. I was sorry to hear of Uncle Carl's [note in margin: R. Walter Foxes older brother.] death, but perhaps it was better if he couldn't have recovered fully. If you could send me back those coat hangers it would be swell. We are very short & there aren't any at the PX. We are having a big dance for the men tomorrow night, a coffee hour Sunday & going to the beach Saturday to relax. Love, Helen
