The enclosed flower [note in margin: Jacaranda, I think] was a lovely lavendar when I picked it. The flowering vines & trees are gorgeous & there are butterflies like the picture I got in England. Fort Davis, C.Z. February 16, 1946 Dear Mother, I have a nice bunch of letters to answer, 6, 7, 8, & 9. I'd love the nightgown. In fact I need it badly, because the maid burned one of my two when she was giving it a final press. Last night we had a Bingo game in the club and then Helen & I went over to Ft. Gulick (about 4 miles) to attend the opening of the new service club there. Today we took four of the Puerto Rican fellows who have helped us a lot to swim at Ft. Sherman. We were gone all afternoon & had a good time. We took Juan, Hector, Marcial and Ortilla. They had a grand time and sang songs all the way home. I was sorry to hear about Arlene [Jinning?]. [note in margin: Lucile Johnson, nurse with 91st in Oxford] They had such a nice family. I got a nice long letter from Johnnie & answered it. She is home & may stop by to see you. I'll answer some of your questions. Our house is about as far as the railroad bridge from our service club. We go every evening 6:30 - 10 except Sunday & Sunday morning 9 -11. We don't
