La Venta, R.P. October 14, 1946 Dear Mother, I'm at the start of what looks like a very pleasant little vacation. Helen Hutt & I flew up here this morning and will fly back Saturday if we don't drive down with a Lt. we met here. We flew from Albrook Field (next door to Corozal) to Rio Hato (next door to this resort hotel). The hotel is right on the ocean, has a lovely beach, soft beds and superb food. It is run by a Danish couple who own most of the land hereabouts. We left Albrook at 7:30 & got here to the hotel by 8:30. You can find us on the map, probably, toward Costa Rica from Panama City. We went in to operations at Rio Hato when we got in & the hotel sent one of its guests, Lt. Hewitt, in his Chrysler to pick us up. He offered us a ride to Albrook & back, as he had to go down.
