Saving...
Capt. Singer was with the RAF before we went in, bombed Berlin & Munich, etc in B-17's & then went to the Pacific & bombed Tokyo in B-29's. I had forgotten what crazy will-of-the-wisp fellows they were. It is awfully hard for them to fit in to the rather dignified, stiff regular army now. He said he was up in a B-17 a few days before & he saw three P-47's (fast fighter planes) buzzing the post at [Chaume?]. He said they did a punk job of it so he thought he'd show them what could be done with a four-motored bomber. So he peeled off and down he went. There was a placed where if you tipped your wings right you could go between a water tower and a flagpole, so he did, leaving about ten feet between his wing & the ground. Then he shot up, went into a stall & came back through. He was the one who flew us back here Saturday afternoon -- without gymnastics!
