Saving...
came in for tea about three she had just come from there and said Mrs. E - was still in bed and that one of the girls was home sick too, so I (yes, you guessed it!) baked an angel food and took it over to them this morning - She looks fine and the family are all on the mend - They liked the cake - When I got home Mr. Casey came with my repaired thermostat clock - glad it could be fixed for I hated the idea of $40 for a new clock - I don't know yet how much the repairing will cost as he didn't have the bill but it can't be as much as a new one anyway. Gretchen brought me a dozen big eggs 39 cents per doz. now. I worked several hours yesterday finishing up the seed orders & mailed them today - They are up in price so, altho I had already on hand about 3/4 of what we need, the new ones came to a bit over 7.00. We are planting more flowers this year - and I did fall for 22 glad bulbs for 1.00 Grace went home today with her bag bulging with your 2 last mystery books - "Anything Can Happen" and "Green Dolphin Street" - She brought back several books and magazines and brought me 6 good little chocolate cup cakes. My! but she is a good cook - in fact I don't know of anything she can't do - She sat here on the davenport and with bits of felt and colored threads made a stunning little dress clip and earrings to match - a set that sells for five dollars in the Book Shop. The pussy willow branches I brought in a couple weeks ago are are now full of big fuzzy "pussys" and the forsynthia is beginning to show color - outdoors the snow is deep and it is still winter. Went over and watered Mrs. Kosens plants today - took in their mail. Warm & nice in there and everything seemed OK. Am going to stop now and read "Story of a Secret State" - am about half through it - Love to you Mother (You really are an angel not to complain about these hand written letters.)
