Wed. a.m. My dear Bess - [illegible] Hey I am in Dee-troit, still recruiting "gals" for over-seas duty in hospital and clubs. I come here about every four weeks and there is always a big, new crop of good prospects. They seem to come to Detroit from all over the U.S. - and really the city appears to have about all the U.S. population in it. Its bulging - and screaming with noise - at times. Helen's letter was so interesting. I (brot?) it with me to read over more before returning it to you. Thank you so much for sending it. I wish we could get more help to her but we are doing what we are ordered to do - and no more. I'll be here all week - probably about my last trip on recruiting. I have a funny feeling about leaving it but still I know I don't want
