it was 10:15 and no postman yet. I fussed around a bit and he came and took the box for your and our letters and left cards from Jay & Aaron and Geo Lindsay. Gretchen phoned (12 cents) - said she was out waiting for the interurban to bring her in to see you off at the station - It was 20 minutes later so she figured she'd never make it so stayed home - She said such nice things about you (as did Eric) and was disappointed not to see you today. We were thanking each other for Christmas things the front chimes sounded, then there was a knocking - went and there were the pears. They look even nicer than the ones the Wilsons sent - I have one on the buffet and the rest in the box on the chair by the tea cart - Wish you could help eat them.
